It is estimated that there are roughly 40,000 pieces of plastic floating in every square kilometre of ocean*. By 2050, there will be more plastic in the sea than fish (by weight)*.
Over 5 million tonnes of food ends up as landfill in Australia alone, enough to fill 9,000 Olympic swimming pools*. One in five shopping bags (about $3,800 worth) of groceries end up in the bin per household, per year.*

More About Us
Thirty years in IT does strange things to a person and I had been looking for a change, but had no idea what. During a holiday in Byron Bay, however, Kylie and I were inspired by a shop selling produce loose and package free, and we thought this was something that our community in Summer Hill needed. So in July ’19 I quit my job as an IT solution architect, and started going about setting up MAD Wholefoods. It’s taken a while (so much longer than I planned!) but we’re open for business and would love to see you soon.
