Description
Austral Herbs‘ Allspice is not a spice mix as its name suggests, but is in fact made from the red berry of the pimento, a tree that grows in the southern Americas and West Indies. Its name is derived from the berry’s taste, which has elements of cloves, juniper berries, cinnamon and pepper. This very versatile spice can be used in chais, (or for the Europeans, glühwein), or sprinkle some on roast vegetables. Use in stews, curries or soups for some added depth, or it can also be used for a bit of spice in sweet dishes like gingerbread, apple pie or dark chocolate desserts.
